'Your Persistence Paid Off': Billy Ray Cyrus And Lil Nas X's Message To Billie Eilish

After spending a record-breaking 19 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, "Old Town Road" has now been knocked off the top spot by Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy".

Well, it had to happen sometime! After nineteen weeks, countless remixes and one broken record, this year's biggest hit "Old Town Road" has officially been knocked off its perch to make way for Billie Eilish's first number one hit for her single, "bad guy".

Following the news, Lil Nas X tweeted out his congratulations to the singer, writing, "congratulations to billie eilish!! u deserve this!!"

Billy Ray Cyrus also paid tribute to the 17-year-old's dedication, tweeting, "Congratulations @billieeilish Well deserved. Your persistence paid off. Thanks everybody. It was a hell of a ride."

“Old Town Road” officially became the longest-running number-one song in Billboard's history when hit the 17-week mark at the top spot back in July, beating out “One Sweet Day” by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men as well as “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, featuring Justin Bieber.

Along with Billy Ray Cyrus Cyrus, the single also spawned several remixes with other celebs such as Diplo, and Young Thug and Mason Ramsey (the Yodeling Kid). CupcakKe also shared her own version of the song, “Old Town Hoe,” back in May.
