Everyday, This Dumb Nicki Minaj 'Roman Holiday' Meme Grows More Powerful

Another day, another meme that will well and truly break your brain.

The latest meme du jour is Nicki Minaj's 2012 Grammy performance of her single "Roman Holiday".

First, some context: 'Roman' is one of Nicki's rap alter egos, in the same way that Eminem slips between the personas of Slim Shady, Eminem and Marshall Mathers.

"Roman Holiday" tells the story of Roman Zolanski being forced to go through gay conversion therapy by his mother, Martha, and is punctuated by her pleas for him to "take his medication" and "take a short vacation". It also includes an eerie and off-key rendition of "O Come All Ye Faithful". Oh, and both characters are British??? If it sounds messy AF, it's because it is!!!

Her Grammys performance took the story a step further, and featured an exorcism, because of course it did.

Anyway, the song has recently been enjoying a revival after Twitter decided that setting pretty much anything and everything to the chaos of "Roman Holiday" is the literal peak of comedy. What began as dancing videos set to the song has evolved into pretty much anything and everything set to the chaotic banger, even if the video is a livestream of YouTuber James Charles losing followers in real time.

Here are some examples, for your viewing pleasure:

In fact, it's become so popular that "loving 'Roman Holiday memes" is now a meme in and of itself

The result of all this? It's fast becoming Nicki's most successful song of the year so far.

And it's showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
