Get Ready To Party Like It's 1770 Because The Palace Of Versailles Is Holding A Rave
Finally, the Palace of Versailles is putting on an event that combines French history and house music.
The former home of Marie Antoinette and a number of kings named Louis normally plays host to more traditional events like staged operas, ballets, and masked balls throughout the European summer.
But this June, for the first time, Versailles will host an ornate rave at the foot of the hall of mirrors -- the lavish walkway that used to be reserved for royal weddings and diplomatic receptions.
The so-called soirée special is being hosted by Ed Banger records, and will feature performances from a "legendary line-up of French electro musicians" including Busy P, Breakbot x Irfane, Myd and So Me.
A far cry from the baroque music that would have been enjoyed in the royal court of Louis XIV -- but no doubt just as hedonistic.
In fact, if you grab yourself a VIP ticket -- or billet gold-- for about $250, you'll get access to a special 'gold' lounge area and bar, two glasses of champagne, unlimited buffet access and a reserved carpark in the park of Versailles.
Presumably, it's so you can bring your horse and carriage -- or maybe just your Ford Fiesta rental car -- nice and close to the venue.
There are also tickets that will set you back just $95 or $50 if you don't need any champagne on arrival or VIP car park spots -- because who wants to drive to a rave, anyway?
