Lady Gaga Defends 'Brave' Cardi B Amid Grammys Backlash
Lady Gaga has spoken out in defence of fellow Grammy winner Cardi B, after many suggested the rapper "didn't deserve" the accolade for Best Rap Album.
What should have been cause for celebration for Cardi B has since turned into a sh*tstorm of epic proportions.
After the 26-year-old's album Invasion Of Privacy won the Grammy for Best Rap Album at this year's Grammy Awards, it wasn't long before haters began to blast the 'I Like It' rapper, insisting that the award should have instead gone to the late Mac Miller for his fifth and final album Swimming.
Following the drama, Cardi dramatically deleted her Instagram account, but not before ranting in a video post, which she captioned "Sick of people shit."
However, the star has since found support in fellow muso, Lady Gaga, who has come out swinging.
Posting a photo of herself and the mum-of-one at the award show on Twitter, Gaga made a point to praise the star, writing, "It is so hard to be a woman in this industry. What it takes, how hard we work through the disrespectful challenges, just to make art. I love you Cardi."
She continued, "You deserve your awards. Let's celebrate her fight. Lift her up & honor her. She is brave."
The pair look to have made fast friends at the 2019 ceremony, with Cardi seen fangirling over the 'Joanne' songstress -- whom she has previously credited with influencing her when it came to music.
"When I was a teenager lady Gaga changed my life," she wrote in a tweet back in 2016. "She inspired me to be myself & be different."
We love when our faves support each other!
