Say You'll Be There! Mel B Confirms Spice Girls Reunion Tour
Obviously, what we've really, really wanted for years now is the reunion of the ORIGINAL Fab Five (sorry, Queer Eye boys!) -- the Spice Girls -- and today, Mel B has confirmed that the girl power group will be back on the road soon.
Are we excited, you wonder?
OF COURSE we're excited! But we're also trying to remain cautiously optimistic about this all working out, because the road to get here has been kind of crazed.
Speculation around the Spice Girls reunion tour began back in February, when TMZ reported that the gals were getting the band back together again and had signed back up with former manager Simon Fuller.
After the girls posted an Insta-snap of them hanging out, the fan chatter picked up, prompting the group to release the following statement to Entertainment Weekly:
“We have enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching up and reminiscing about the amazing times we have spent together. We are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for the Spice Girls. The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together.”
New opportunities, sounds like a tour, right? Well, that's what the fans thought, until Victoria said this to Vogue during New York Fashion Week: “I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour.”
She added that they were "just bouncing ideas around" and "brainstorming" things for the future, but stressed that fashion was the her focus of her career now.
Cut to earlier this month, when Emma Bunton appeared on This Morning in the UK, and said that there was "definitely something in the pipelines", but wasn't so sure about a tour.
"We want it to be the right thing," she continued, saying that she 'wasn't sure' about a tour but that "a few shows would be great though".
This brings us to today, when Mel B has confirmed that the Spice Girls WILL be touring, exclaiming once and for all: “We are touring!”
Appearing on the Today show’s Kathie Lee & Hoda segment, Mel B dismissed Victoria's prior comments, saying, “She’s always bloody saying that.”
She added: “Stop it! We are touring! Yes, we are going to be doing performances together, for sure.”
“I still do [love performing]. I’m the only one that keeps on saying, ‘We’re gonna be performing,’ which we are gonna be performing,” Brown told Hoda Kotb. “Finally they got it together.”
So, that's that, we guess! Now we just have to wait and see whether the tour will be heading to Australia! In the meantime, BRB, we're off to watch Spice World again.
