Academy Awards 2020: People Are Pissed Adam Sandler Wasn't Nominated For An Oscar

The 92nd Acadamy Awards nominations dropped last night, and it's safe to say that many aren't impressed with certain snubs.

We never thought we'd ever find ourselves writing that headline, but here we are.

Following last night's full nomination list for the 92nd Acadamy Awards, social media users have been vocal about several snubs across the award show's main categories.

But it was Adam Sandler's snub for his role as diamond district dealer, Howard Ratner, in 'Uncut Gems' that has ruffled the most feathers among cinema-goers.

Previously known for his plethora of silly (and iconic) comedies such as Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and The Waterboy, Sandler impressed critics in his latest dramatic performance, which was hailed as a sharp contrast to his previous films. Despite his performance receiving rave reviews, unfortunately, the comedian failed to land a nod in the Best Actor category -- and viewers were not impressed.

Academy Awards 2020: Here Are All The Oscars Nominees

The nominees for the 92nd Academy Awards have been announced -- and there were more than a few surprises.

Upon learning of the snub, fans also reminded the star of his December interview with Howard Stern, in which he promised to make the "worst movie ever" if he wasn't nominated for an Oscar for 'Uncut Gems'.

“If I don’t get it, I’m going to f**king come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay. That’s how I get them,” Sandler told the radio host.

And while fans are mad at the Academy overlooking the funnyman, Sandler doesn't seem to be all that bothered, with the actor posting a cheeky tweet in which he referenced the snub.

He also congratulated his on-screen Mama from 1998 comedy 'The Waterboy', Kathy Bates, for her nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Clint Eastwood’s 'Richard Jewell'.

“Bad news: Sandman gets no love from the Academy. Good news: Sandman can stop wearing suits,” he wrote, adding: "Congrats to all my friends who got nominated, especially Mama."

To add to all the drama and excitement, in a move that had 'Waterboy' screaming, Bates replied to her on-screen son in-character as 'Mama', writing: “I love you my Bobby Boucher!!! You was robbed!! But Mama loves you!!! I learned a new urban slang word for you! You da GOAT!!”

“Not the one we eat at home, Son. ❤️😎🐐” Bates added, referencing the um, interesting menu options Mama Boucher cooked up for dinner in the film.

Among other stars that many are claiming were snubbed for a nomination at the 2020 Oscars include Lupita Nyong'o for Best Actress in 'Us', Greta Gerwig for Best Director of 'Little Women', and Jennifer Lopez for Best Supporting Actress in 'Hustlers'.

The 92nd Academy Awards will air in Australian on Monday, February 10.
