Miss Fisher Is Back In The First Trailer For 'Crypt Of Tears'
Phryne Fisher, the glam 1920s private detective, is back and quite literally bigger than ever in the movie 'Miss Fisher & The Crypt of Tears'.
Starring Essie Davis as the titular Miss Fisher, 'Crypt of Tears' is a spin-off from the wildly popular 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries' series that ran on the ABC from 2012 to 2015.
Based on the novels by Kerry Greenwood, 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries' followed Phryne Fisheryne as she solved any crime that crossed her path with sass and serious style.
In 2017, the production company behind the series, Every Cloud Productions, announced a crowdfunding campaign to help fill a funding gap -- a campaign fans were more than happy to help with.
In under two days, fans of 'Miss Fisher' had reached the $250,000 goal of the campaign. By the time the campaign ended, more than 7,700 fans had helped raise more than $730,000.
While the series has been popular at home in Australia, once the series hit Netflix it garnered a massive American fanbase also.
Directed by Tony Tilse, 'Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears' takes the plucky lady detective out of Melbourne and around the world "on an exhilarating new journey of mystery and mayhem through exotic 1920s British Palestine to the opulence of grand London manors," the official synopsis describes.
Set to hit theatres on February 27, 2020, 'Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears' stars Essie Davis, Nathan Page, Rupert Penry-Jones, Isabelle Yella, Miriam Margolyes and Ashleigh Cummings.
