Jonah Hauer-King Joins 'The Little Mermaid' Cast As Prince Eric

This up-and-coming British actor is about to become part of your world.

Jonah Hauer-King, a relatively unknown actor who starred as Laurie Laurence in the BBC production of Little Women, is set to star opposite Halle Bailey in the live-action remake of the beloved Disney film.

There were whispers earlier in the year that singer Harry Styles was being considered, but said to have turned down the role in August in order to focus on his music career. Hauer-King beat out fellow finalist Cameron Cuffe to nab the role in the film.

Five Actors Who Could Play Prince Eric Just As Well As Harry Styles

The former One Direction star has reportedly rejected the role of Prince Eric in Disney's live-action revival of 'The Little Mermaid'.

So far, the film's call sheet already includes Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Awkwafina as Scuttle and Javier Bardem as King Triton.

The original animated film's composer Alan Menken (who also composed the scores for Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Pocahontas) is teaming up with Lin-Manuel Miranda to write new songs for the new movie.
