If you're not familiar with Austin, here's everything you need to know about this star on the rise who's bound to become a household name over the next few months.
1. He's been dating Vanessa Hudgens since around 2011
Austin actually met Vanessa Hudgens while she was filming 'High School Musical' and dating Zac Efron. While the pair began as friends, rumours began to circulate that they were in a relationship around 2011.
At the 2015 MTV Music Video Awards, Butler spoke about his relationship with the star. "It's important to put that other person first," he told Entertainment Tonight.
He added, "If you're constantly looking for ways that you can make them happy, and they're constantly looking for ways that they can make you happy, then you kind of lift each other up as much as possible and you can’t go wrong."
The pair are still going strong, with Hudgens today boasting about her BF's newest role over Instagram.
“I AMMMM OVERRRR THE F**KING MOOOOOOOOONNNNN,” she wrote in a caption next to a screenshot of an article announcing the news. “I CAN'T WAIT. SO PROUD OF MY HONEYYYYY!!!”
2. He was discovered at the county fair
When Butler was just 13-years-old an agent from a background-acting management company approached him at the Orange County Fair, which gave him his break into the entertainment industry.
After taking some acting classes, he quickly landed guest roles in a number of Nickelodeon and Disney shows such as 'Hannah Montana' and 'Zoey 101', before moving on to Broadway and the silver screen.
3. He plays a Manson Family member in Quentin Tarantino’s 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood'
While Butler made his start on tween shows like 'Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide' before moving onto teen roles 'The Carrie Diaries', and 'The Shannara Chronicles', his next role in Quentin Tarantino's 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood' will see him take on a far darker role.
In the highly-anticipated flick, he'll play Manson family member Charles "Tex" Watson, who is currently serving a life sentence in prison for participating in the murders of actress Sharon Tate, her unborn child and friends back in 1969.
4. He can sing
Not only does the actor bear a resemblance to the late Elvis Presley, but he's also got the singing chops to play the King, too.
In many of his previous roles -- including spots on 'iCarly' in 2007 and 'Are You There, Chelsea?' in 2012, Butler proved he's a natural when it comes to singing on screen. Not only that, but according to a sneaky video taken by girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, he's also incredibly talented on the piano. Impressive!
5. He landed the role of Elvis after Baz Luhrmann heard about his Broadway performance
In his announcement to Deadline, Baz Luhrmann revealed it was after hearing about the actor's debut role in Broadway production 'The Iceman Cometh' that first piqued his interest in having Butler play Presley.
"Throughout the casting process, it was an honour for me to encounter such a vast array of talent," he told the publication.
"I had heard about Austin Butler from his stand-out role opposite Denzel Washington in 'The Iceman Cometh' on Broadway and through a journey of extensive screen testing and music and performance workshops, I knew unequivocally that I had found someone who could embody the spirit of one of the world's most iconic musical figures," Luhrmann said.
