9 Roles Scarlett Johansson Would Be Perfect For

In a recent interview with 'As If' magazine, Scarlett Johansson lashed out at political correctness when it comes to casting.

In quotes obtained by the Daily Mail, Johansson said, "As an actor I should be allowed to play any person, or any tree, or any animal because that is my job and the requirements of my job."

Because that is her job, and the requirements of her job, we decided to put our thinking caps on and list the roles we'd love to see ScarJo take up next! Let us know if we missed any!

Disney is on a roll with their live-action remakes, but so far there hasn't been much news in a 'Pocahontas' remake and we think it's about time! During the interview, Johansson made it clear that she has NO problem playing roles of any race, gender, sexuality -- because she is an actor and that is her job and the requirements of her job. So who better to play an ancient Native American spirit guide than the incredibly caucasian Scarlett Johansson?

Groot, 'The Guardians of the Galaxy'

Okay, hear us out -- and spoilers for 'Avengers: Endgame' to follow -- but after Black Widow had to make the ultimate sacrifice to obtain the Soul Stone, Johansson is now free to jump into other Marvel projects! Why not quietly take over the role of Groot from Vin Diesel?

Angry Enchanted Apple Tree, 'The Wizard of Oz'

"How would you like to have someone come along and pick something off of you?" A great question, and one that we can absolutely hear in ScarJo's dulcet tones! The perfect role for her.

The Giving Tree, 'The Giving Tree'

First published in 1964, 'The Giving Tree' is perfect for the Hollywood treatment. Shel Silverstein's classic children's picture book would be the perfect vehicle for ScarJo to star as the titular tree, allowing her to branch out -- so to speak -- into a new role.

The Whomping Willow, The Harry Potter Franchise

Who doesn't love a spin-off or reimagining more than JK Rowling? One direction that ol' Jo may not have considered just yet is a remake of the entire 'Harry Potter' franchise, but the only change is that the Whomping Willow is played by Scarlett Johansson. It would be simply magical!

Treebeard, 'Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers'

Scarlett Johansson has proven she's Lord of the roles when it comes to being able to play anything. Remember how she transformed her role of Marvel's Black Widow from "woman with slight Russian accent" to "woman who was apparently American the whole time" across the 10 years of the MCU? Well, now she can bring that depth and range to another iconic franchise, playing the standout Ent in Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings'.

The Faraway Tree, Assorted Enid Blyton Novels

Remember the classic stories of Jo, Fanny and Bessie discovering the magic of the Faraway Tree? Sure, the novels focused more on the wondrous characters living in and around the magic tree and the lands the trio travelled to -- but ScarJo would be the perfect choice to play the fantastical tree if ever a series was made from the classic books!

Tree of Souls, 'Avatar'

Paging James Cameron! The award-winning director is gearing up to make a handful of sequels to the 2009 film, and there is no one more perfect to play the Tree of Souls, aka Vitraya Ramunong in Na'vi. Honestly when you say "extremely spiritual point sitting on top of a large unobtanium deposit" our minds go immediately to Scarlett Johansson!

The Tree of Life, 'The Tree of Life'

What even was this movie about? Was it a tree? If so, Scarlett Johansson could play it.
