WATCH: Disney's Trailer For Live-Action 'Mulan' Has Dropped
The latest Disney revival will hit cinemas in March 2020.
The teaser trailer for Disney's live-action remake of 'Mulan' is finally here, and fans are beyond excited.
In the clip, we're introduced to Chinese-American actor Liu Yifei, who plays Hua Mulan, the daughter of Hua Zhou (played by Tzi Ma), a war veteran. When Hua Zhou is made to return to the military, Mulan disguises herself as a man to take his place in the Imperial army.
While many are excited to again see the Disney classic come to life, others have expressed disappointment over changes to the original story, including the removal of popular characters Mushu and Li Shang.
Kevin Smith, director of 'Clerks' and 'Mallrats', tweeted to Disney about the lack of dragon Mushu, writing, "Dear @DisneyStudios: Your #Mulan movie looks truly dazzling! But you can have my money once you show me the Mushu! Mulan & Mushu are like Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket, so do Mushu!"
He continued, "Also: (SPOILERS!) Please keep the part when Mulan throws her shoe at Shan Yu. Signed, A Demanding Fan".
The remake is directed by Niki Caro, and will also star Jet Li as The Emperor and a 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Donnie Yen as Commander Tung.
It's the latest in a slew of live-action remakes from Disney, with 'Aladdin' and 'Dumbo' being released earlier this year, while 'The Lion King' hits Australian cinemas later this month.
The flick is based on the 1998 animated film directed by Barry Cook and Tony Bancroft and is set to be released in cinemas in March 2020.
