Sigourney Weaver Confirms She'll Be In 'Ghostbusters 3' Along With Original Cast But There's A Catch

She ain't afraid of no reboot.

In case you forgot, a 'Ghostbusters' reboot is still in the works with favourites Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd reprising their roles from the original 1984 film and the 1989 sequel.

In an interview with Parade Magazine. Weaver said it was "going to be crazy working with the guys again", referring to Aykroyd and Murry, leading some to believe the movie set to hit cinemas in 2020 would centre on the trio.

'Ghostbusters 3' is being written and directed by Jason Reitman, the son of Ivan Reitman who directed the original two films. In the past Reitman had spoken about the new film, clarifying that it was not a "reboot" per se because: "What happened in the '80s happened in the '80s and this is set in the present day."

The film is set to centre on Carrie Coon, a single mother of two kids played by Mckenna Grace and 'Stranger Things' star Finn Wolfhard.

Meanwhile, with Weaver's comments in mind, it appears she'll be reprising her role of Dana Barrett -- with Aykroyd and Murray also taking up their old characters of Ray Stantz and Peter Venkman respectively.

While Murray and Aykroyd are signed on, there's no news if the other surviving member of the original team, Ernie Hudson, will also be signing on. In February Hudson said he kept in contact with both Reitmans adding that when he heard about the project he gave Jason a call.

"Obviously it would be a great job if I was included, but they didn't exclude the possibility that it could happen either," Hudson said. "So far nothing's come across my desk, but I've always let them and the studio know that I'm open to appearing!"

While there haven't been any official announcements when Hudson was set to guest-star on the CW series 'Arrow' an original Deadline report noted the actor was "known for his portrayal of Winston Zeddemore in the Ghostbusters franchise" and that he would "reprise the role in 'Ghostbusters 3'". That article has since been updated to remove any mention of the upcoming movie.

Hudson did cameo in the 2016 reboot of 'Ghostbusters' along with Aykroyd, Murray and Weaver. The all-female cast film was a massive lightning rod for toxic fans of the original to attack the film before it had even been released.

The final member of the original foursome, Harold Ramis, died in 2014.
