The Extended Lion King Trailer Is Here And The Nostalgia Is (Fur) Real
The ciiiircle of life!
The highly-anticipated trailer for the live-action reboot of The Lion King is finally here, and it's even better than we imagined.
The new extended clip of the remake on the 1994 Disney classic has switched from using animation in favour of incredibly realistic CGI technology to tell the famous story.
And when we say realistic, we mean that it's so realistic that people legitimately thought real lions were used (kind of like a David Attenborough version of the classic flick, we guess?).
Meanwhile, as fans were flooded with nostalgia over the side-by-side comparisons between the OG and new flick, others revealed they're already traumatised over the idea that they'll now have to witness Mufasa's tragic death all over again -- but this time in hyper-realistic HD.
And while we caught a glimpse of Simba and Nala in the clip, we're yet to hear them talk, however, we do know that Simba is being voiced by Donald Glover -- aka Childish Gambino -- and Nala by Beyonce.
We did, however, finally meet villainous lion Scar, voiced by actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for his Oscar-nominated role as Solomon Northup in 12 Years A Slave -- though some aren't convinced the new Scar has the same impact as it's original.
The all-star cast will also include John Oliver as bird Zazu, Keegan Michael Key as Kamari the hyena and Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, wife to Mufasa and Simba's mum. James Earl Jones is set to reprise his role from the original film as the king of the jungle and Simba's father, Mufasa.
The new Lion King film is the latest in a bunch of live-action remakes from Disney, with classic animated films including The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, and, most recently, Dumbo all receiving the remake treatment.
The Lion King hits Aussie cinemas 18th of July, 2019.
