'Avengers: Endgame' Likely To Feature Stan Lee's Final Cameo

The massive follow up to 'Infinity War' was set to close a major chapter for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But that isn't the only thing it appears that Avengers: Endgame will bring to a close. According to co-director Joe Russo, it looks like the upcoming film may contain the final cameo of Stan Lee.

Lee has been featured briefly in almost every Marvel movie since 1989, popping up throughout the X-Men franchise, the Fantastic Four films and then becoming a fixture of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He even featured in the recent PS4 Spider-Man game.

During a press event, Russo told a crowd "I believe that his final cameo is in Endgame. I don't remember if he was well enough to do the [Spider-Man: Far From Home] cameo or not."

"It was incredible, I grew up on these comic books," Russo continued, "Stan Lee was an idol of mine when I was a kid and to be able to have the opportunity to not only work around the material that he created but to work with him is a childhood dream come true."

Lee died last November at the age of 95 but as his health began to fade he filmed several cameos for films ahead of time. Marvel Studios' President Kevin Feige said, "I'm not going to tell you what, specifically, but Stan always appreciated a good surprise."

Meanwhile, Endgame has broken first-day records for advanced ticket sales already, with the film going so far as to crash websites in the US when pre-sale tickets were released.

The film is set to pick-up where Infinity War left off, with half the MCU being wiped out of existence by Thanos. The heroes we've come to know and love across a decade of movies will have to fight with everything they've got to avenge the fallen and try to reverse Thanos' doing.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Endgame will star Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Brie Larson, Danai Gurira, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Josh Brolin, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Paul Rudd, Don Cheadle, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Gwyneth Paltrow and many, many more.

Endgame opens in cinemas April 26.
