A Sequel For 'A Quiet Place' Is Coming And We're Already Terrified
John Krasinski confirmed that the sequel -- called 'Part II' -- will be returning on May 15, 2020.
According to a new report from Deadline, a second installment to last year's successful horror flick is already in the works, with Krasinski reportedly returning to the director's chair. His wife, Mary Poppins Returns star Emily Blunt, is again set to again star in the film.
Krasinski confirmed the date of the sequel over his Instagram account, where he captioned a snap, "...time to go back. #PartII 5-15-20."
During the OG flick, we last saw Emily's character -- Evelyn Abbott -- in the basement of a house along with her children as they hope to fight back against the mysterious creatures.
As to what the sequel's story might entail, Krasinski has previously called the film a “continuation” of the franchise, rather than a direct sequel to the first.
"I will say last week I had an idea that I really liked, so now I gotta just see if it's good enough," he teased to Digital Spy last year.
SPOILER ALERT--STOP READING.
In case you haven't seen it, in the first film, Krasinski's character Lee Abbott sacrifices himself to save his kids from the creatures.
"Basically, I come back as a ghost," he said, jokingly. "That's the idea I had last week. It's really good, guys! Don't worry, it's not cheesy at all!"
He also added that Blunt was the one responsible for convincing him to direct the hit film -- which made an impressive $326 million on a $17 million budget.
"I was gonna re-write it and act in it and she was like, 'No way, you gotta direct this, I've never seen you excited like this, you should direct it!' I feel like she should be my manager."
A Quiet Place 2 is due for release on May 15, 2020.
