BAFTA Awards 2019: Host Joanna Lumley Slammed For Shocking Ku Klux Klan 'Joke'

The former 'Absolutely Fabulous' star is being called out for making the offensive joke during the BAFTAS ceremony.

Lumley mentioned the nominated movie BlacKkKlansman at the beginning of the British Film awards show -- with the camera panning to the film's director Spike Lee and actor Adam Driver.

"I’m surprised BlacKkKlansman did so well at the Klan Film Festival," Lumley then said, tying the KKK and the Cannes Film Festival into one excruciatingly offensive monologue.

The audience at the Royal Albert Hall fell silent after Lumley's comment and Twitter users reacted in horror to the "offensive" bit.

Lumley's entire performance as BAFTAS host this year has been criticised as "painful" and "cringe-worthy" by viewers on Twitter.
