Emma Stone Is Going To Play A Punk Cruella De Vil
Lock up your puppies because Emma Stone is set to star as Cruella De Vil in the new live-action remake of '101 Dalmatians'.
The new project will reportedly be directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) and will focus on the origin story of the dog-hating, fur-obsessed heiress, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The upcoming 101 Dalmatians reboot will be set in the 1980s and Stone will channel a "punk vibe" to breathe new life into the iconic Disney villain.
You could probably argue that De Vil has always been punk -- from her streaked hair, to her very Vivienne Westwood-esque wardrobe.
Critics have also argued that it's only been 22 years since the last live-action remake of 101 Dalmatians was released and attempting to improve on Glenn Close's portrayal of Cruella in 1996 is downright ambitious -- bordering on sacrilegious.
However, fans of Stone's are urging us to look past her reputation as a goofy dork and have faith that she can play the well-dressed, animal-cruelty loving criminal.
