Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson's coronavirus diagnosis has left Channel Nine, Sydney Opera House, and a Gold Coast film set scrambling to find everyone the couple came into contact with while in Oz.

One thing fans are saying the show did correctly predict was the self-isolation of Hollywood star Tom Hanks.

In the 2007 Simpsons Movie, Hanks featured in a cameo where he delivers the line, "This is Tom Hanks saying: If you see me in person, please leave me be."

The discovery comes just a day after Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson would Fhave to self-isolate after being diagnosed with coronavirus in Australia while Hanks was filming Baz Luhrmann's Elvis Presley biopic.

Posting an update on Instagram, Hanks wrote, "We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?"

Hanks' son Chet also posted a public statement as an update to his parents' health saying, "They're not trippin', but they're going through the necessary health precautions obviously."

"I don't think it's anything to be too worried about. I appreciate everyone's concern and the well wishes. But I think it's all gonna be alright.'
