How The Late Steve Irwin Will Be Honoured At Daughter Bindi's Wedding
Steve Irwin may no longer be with us, but daughter Bindi is making sure her late dad is still a part of her special day.
With Bindi and partner Chandler Powell already planning to host their nuptials at Australia Zoo in memory of the late wildlife conservationist, mum Terri Irwin has spilled a sweet detail about how the pair's wedding will honour Steve.
"We want to acknowledge Steve by all of us lighting this candle for him, but you know, I guess in some ways it's not necessary because Steve will be there anyway," Terri told the Courier Mail.
"I believe the people we love always are. You know, if you are missing someone, I think it's helpful to know that scientifically you can't actually create or extinguish life, you can only change its form," she said, adding, “So if you are grieving someone you loved very much, look to science and just remember that when you boil the kettle and steam comes out, it doesn’t mean the water has gone.”
Terri added that Bindi's brother Robert would walk her down the aisle in Steve's absence.
Bindi announced her engagement to Chandler last year when the American wakeboarder proposed on her 21st birthday.
"On my birthday I said ‘yes’ & ‘forever’ to the love of my life," she wrote on Twitter.
"Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you & every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure & true happiness. Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose & unconditional love."
Following the exciting news, Terri took to social media to add that late Croc Hunter Steve would be "so very happy" for his daughter.
Given that Australia Zoo is where Chandler and Bindi first met, the venue already holds a lot of sentimental value -- along with the fact that the wildlife park was originally created by Steve’s parents and later passed on to Steve and Terri.
“It’s where we met, it’s where we got engaged, it only makes sense to have it at the Australia Zoo,” Powell told Good Morning America in September, adding that they plan to have "lots and lots” of animals in the ceremony.
We think Steve would wholeheartedly approve!
