The Race Is On To Dress Hollywood's Biggest Stars For The Oscars
Designers are hard at work to get their gowns red carpet ready for big name celebrities heading to Hollywood's 'night of nights', the Academy Awards.
Fashion designer Kenneth Barliss has quite the collection of glamorous gowns, dressing stars like Halsey and Carrie Underwood.
"One of my biggest celebrity dreams to dress on the red carpet is Anne Hathaway,” he told CBS News.
A celebrity's walk down the red carpet lasts minutes, but it takes weeks of work to make sure their look is right.
"You have to make sure that your colour palette or your trend is on point, because if you're off then no celebrities will wear it...no publication will use it," he said.
Barliss works with celebrity stylists to create that ‘Cinderella moment’.
A star can either borrow a dress from his new collection or have something custom-made.
But even after all that work, there's no guarantee the dress will be worn.
"It's like winning a lotto, you know. You just never know," he said.
Variety contributing fashion editor Brooke Jaffe said that ‘red carpet moment’ does matter.
"I think it’s very inspirational at home … to say 'what can I take from this, how do I make this my own?'” she told CBS.
From bright colours and puffy sleeves to accessories, these are the trends consumers will soon shop.
While Barliss can't name names, he'll be watching the Oscars' red carpet walk closely.
"For her to wear my design, it's like a little validation of any designer's vision that you are doing what you're supposed to do," Barliss said.
It's a passion for fashion which drives him to create iconic looks that could one day go down in fashion history.
