Bill Murray Returns To ‘Groundhog Day’ In 'Year's Best' Super Bowl Ad
Billy Murray has made a return to 'Groundhog Day' in a new commercial that premiered online ahead of its broadcast during Super Bowl LIV.
Waking up once again to the infamous "I've Got You Babe" by Sonny and Cher as he did in the 1993 film, Murray realises he's once again stuck in an infinite loop in which he's forced to repeat the same day over and over again.
Once again he's forced to repeatedly avoid encounters with Ned Ryerson, but there's one big point of difference this time around -- the presence of an orange Jeep.
Nabbing Punxsutawney Phil to join him on a slew of adventures, Murray find himself gleefully jumping out of bed every morning to Sonny and Cher as the pair do everything from bike riding to playing whack-a-mole.
Fans across social media are already calling it the best commercial of this year's Super Bowl, with one tweeting, "whatever Jeep paid Bill Murray for this, it was worth it".
Another added, "This is legit funny...this will probably be the best Super Bowl commercial...well done #BillMurray!"
In a strategic move by Jeep, the commercial dropped on the real-life Groundhog Day, where Pennsylvania’s most famous groundhog has since predicted that “Spring will be early, it’s a certainty.”
You can watch the Chiefs take on the 49ers on 7mate, Kayo Sports or ESPN from 10am AEDT, with kickoff expected at 10.30am, with the game expected to run until at least 2pm AEDT.
