It's A Girl! Cameron Diaz And Benji Madden Welcome Their First Child

The Los Angeles-based couple announced the baby's arrival on social media Friday local time, adding that they won't be "sharing any more details".

Cameron Diaz, 47, shared the happy news with a written message and no accompanying photo of the newborn.

"Happy New Year from the Maddens! We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden," Diaz wrote on Instagram.

The actress said that while she and husband Benji Madden, 40, were "overjoyed" with the news, protecting Raddix's privacy was their top priority.

"So we won't be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really really cute!!! Some would even say RAD :)"

Cameron and Benji began dating in May 2014, after the Good Charlotte musician split from Australian starlet Sophie Monk.

The high-profile couple spontaneously married on January 5, 2015 in a Jewish ceremony at their Beverly Hills home.

The lovebirds had wanted to "expand their family" since tying the knot, a source told PEOPLE.

“Cameron really wanted to be a mom. Cameron and Benji were hoping they would be blessed with a baby," the source said.

In August last year, Cameron called her husband "the greatest human being".

The actress has been absent from screens since 'Annie' in 2014 and now she's talked about her quiet retreat from public life.

“Getting married to him was the best thing that ever happened to me. My husband’s the best,” Diaz told InStyle. “He’s the greatest human being, and he’s my great partner.

"Marriage is certainly hard, and it’s a lot of work. You need somebody who’s willing to do the work with you, because there’s no 60-40 in marriage. It’s 50-50, period. All the time.”
