Internet Famous Cat Lil Bub's Ashes To Be Shot Into Space, Owner Hopes
In space, no one can hear you rest in peace.
Following the sad news that one of the internet's favourite cats had passed away this week, Lil Bub's owner Mike Bridavsky has revealed his dream plan for his pawsome pal.
Speaking to 'TMZ', Birdavsky said he really wanted a fitting tribute for Bub -- shooting her cremated remains into orbit via a satellite so she can watch over the planet.
Birdavsky's plans include a companion website that people can log onto and see Bub's outer-space location, and even potentially include a live-feed so fans can watch the cremated remains of his beloved pet orbit Earth.
Bub was born with a series of genetic deformities, resulting in her quirky yet adorable appearance -- with dwarfism, osteoporosis, bulging eyes and her tongue constantly poking out -- Lil Bub battled health issues throughout the years.
In his farewell message to Bub Birdavsky wrote, "Even though my heart is absolutely crushed by her graceful departure from planet Earth, I know that her spirit, magic, and overwhelming energy are still with us, reminding us every day to be better."
In his message, Birdavsky said Bub had been battling a "persistent and aggressive bone infection" but that her death still came as a surprise to her family.
"BUB was cheerful and full of love laying in our bed with us Saturday night, but unexpectedly passed away peacefully in her sleep," he said, adding, "To say that our family is devastated would be an understatement."
During her time on the ground, Bub had a major fundraising impact, reportedly raising over $700,000 for pets in need, as well as setting up a national fund for pets with special needs.
But her fundraising efforts may not be over yet, with Birdavsky adding that his plans for the outer-space sendoff would also include an automatic transaction. Each time Bub makes a successful orbit around the planet, a donation can automatically be made to a fund that would benefit veterinary research and homeless pets according to TMZ.
Truly to infinity and beyond.
