'Crazy, Clingy': The Bachelor's Chelsie McLeod Hits Back At Nasty Trolls
Chelsie McLeod has hit back at trolls over Instagram who have sent a slew of nasty comments in the wake of her breakup with Bachelor Matt Agnew.
Speaking out in a candid Instagram post, the 28-year-old chemical engineer opened up about her struggles in dealing with the split, which she said has been made worse by horrible comments from strangers.
Posting a snap of herself lying on a bench in a matching top and pants, she captioned the photo:
"This weekend I was meant to be at a four day festival. I am SO GLAD that I put myself first and opted out to have an alcohol free weekend while I attempt to get myself back to a good place," she wrote.
"Dealing with heartbreak SUCKS and dealing with harsh messages doesn’t help. I’ve been strong enough to deal with all of this but I am definitely worried for those that aren’t. We need to know that unwarranted opinions need to be taken with a grain of salt. THANK YOU to everyone that has had my back. It honestly means the world to me 🥰"
She also took to her Instagram stories to share examples of some of the horrible comments strangers have sent, including calling her "crazy" and "clingy".
"If you gonna act crazy and clingy of course he's gonna leave you. I mean you're not that hot that men would put up with that anyway," one message read, while another said, "You are a f**ked dog have nothing to look at not like Abbie she has a better body then you, Matt loved her body he was all over it he could not keep his hands off ABBUE [sic]."
They continued: "You don't have nothing to look at. Annie [presumably Abbie] has better sexy looks then you with or without makeup. You have neither."
Following the emotional post, several of Chelsie's fellow 'Bachelor' girls, including Elly Miles, Jessica Brody, and Emma Roche, all left comments voicing their support.
"You are so strong and you never fail to blow me away with how amazing you are Chels. Anybody who knows you can see your value. You light up every room and I’m so grateful for your friendship. Also, I will literally fist fight anyone who’s a meanie to you," Jess wrote.
"You know what, some people just SUCK. They don’t know you, you are such a bloody angel Chels. You have a heart of pure gold & those who know you, know that & adore you for it 💛," Elly added.
"Here for you hunni ❤️❤️❤️" Emma wrote.
Along with ladies from her own season, Chelsie also received kind words from this year's Bachelorette, Angie Kent, who encouraged Chelsie to "keep doing you".
"It’s just so sad my love. No one knows what anyone is going through unless they are living that experience," wrote Angie.
"And no one shares the exact same experience, ever. Because we are all different. You keep doing you. People who have horrible things to say are generally so unhappy within themselves. They need the most love out of any of us ❤️ I don’t know any happy people that would speak like that. Xx"
Matt and Chelsie dropped the bombshell that they had called it quits on November 17, just six weeks after The Bachelor finale had aired, with Matt explaining that their romance hadn't "translated from filming to the real, everyday world".
Squashing rumours that he had cheated on the blonde beauty, Matt added, "For those who may wonder if there’s someone else for me right now, there absolutely is not. It’s no one’s fault, it’s just life."
