Australian writer and broadcaster Clive James died after a long battle with leukaemia on November 24 at the age of 80.

James had an impressive career within media that spanned 50 decades and was known for his hilarious commentary on television, literature and current affairs and had won several awards for journalism and broadcasting.

The star of 'The Clive James Show' was diagnosed with leukaemia, kidney failure and lung disease nearly a decade ago, and died at home in Cambridge on November 24. Family and close friends celebrated James' life in a private funeral which took place in the chapel at Pembroke College, Cambridge on Wednesday.

Clive James, an expatriate Australian writer and broadcaster who wrote incisively and often hilariously about television, literature and current affairs, has died aged 80.

Among James' most famous published work included his self-deprecating book of memoirs 'Unreliable Memories,' along with 'Cultural Amnesia' which was comprised of several short essays about more than 100 people who fascinated him.
