Diddy Is Changing His Name AGAIN And It's All For Love
The artist formerly known as Puff Daddy's latest name incarnation is quite literally showering in self-love.
As egos and legacies grow, so too does the list of former names. (At least that's what Prince and Jennifer Lopez have shown us.)
Now American rapper Diddy has decided to change his name ... again.
If you google 'Diddy name' the top suggested search is 'what is Diddy called now?'
But first, let's rewind a moment.
The rapper, singer, songwriter, most recently known as Diddy was born Sean John Combs in 1969.
As time passed he's also had stage names including Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Puffy, or just plain ole Diddy.
In 2017 he flirted with the idea of legally changing his name to Sean Love Diddy aka Brother Love.
The 49-year-old later claimed that he did not mean for the declaration to be taken seriously.
“Due to the overwhelming response to the media out there, and just to not wanting there to be any confusion, I was only joking,” he followed up.
“I didn’t change my name. It was just part of one of my alter-egos, and one of my alter-egos is Love.”
Two years later, he has reportedly followed through and filed for an official name change in the Los Angeles County Courts, although it's been approved by a judge. This is according to gossip gurus TMZ who claim to have obtained copies of the name change documents.
For now, our understanding is Diddy's newest name is Sean Love Combs.
The music artist's Twitter and Instagram pages are still using Diddy as his name. So he's yet to make a formal announcement about his new name and what it will mean for his Sean John fashion line.
