MTV VMAs 2019: Why Billie Eilish Was A No-Show

She's one of the most nominated artists at the MTV Movie Awards this year, but fans were bummed when Billie Eilish didn't appear on the red carpet.

Before Taylor Swift had taken to the stage to kick things off with her single "You Need To Calm Down", an award was casually given out on the red carpet.

Last year's PUSH Artist of the Year winner Hayley Kiyoko announced the "Bad Guy" singer had won the award this year, but Eilish wasn't present to accept. She's a little busy in the middle of her European tour.

Despite not being at the award show, Eilish is nominated for nine additional awards including Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Pop, Best Direction and Best Visual Effects.

Sending a message via video after she won the Push Artist of the Year award, the 17-year-old sent a video message to her MTV fans saying, "I just wanted to thank you guys so much for making me MTV's PUSH artist of the year," adding "Love you".

Eilish has been on a world tour, currently performing across Russia before heading to Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Germany before heading back to the USA.
