YouTube Star Emily Hartridge Dies Aged 35
According to an announcement made on Hartridge's official Instagram account, the popular lifestyle YouTube personality died in an electric scooter accident.
"This is a horrible thing to have to say over Instagram," the post reads, "but we know many of you were expecting to see Emily today and this is the only way to contact you all at once."
While the post did not go into specific details about the accident, London Metropolitan Police also confirmed a woman in her 30s was involved in a collision between an electric scooter and a lorry. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hartridge began posting on YouTube about seven years ago, with her videos mimicking the popular list format -- often titled "10 Reasons Why...".
Following her rise in popularity on YouTube, the 35-year-old parlayed her online fame into TV presenting.
Tributes from friends and fans began pouring in after following the news.
"My heart goes out to Emily's family and friends," Davina McCall wrote. "Sending you love and prayers."
"Emily is one of the most genuine, kind, funny, intelligent souls I've ever met," another wrote, while many grappled with the unexpected news.
"Finding it so hard to understand how this could happened [sic]. All my thoughts are with her family," UK television presenter Zoe Hardman commented.
