Iconic Aussie 'Mr Movies' Bill Collins Has Died

Aussie legend and Logie winner Bill Collins has passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 84.

The sad news was confirmed by a press release issued by Foxtel, which noted that he had "lived a life filled with love and devotion for and from his family" as well as his longstanding passion for film and the entertainment industry.

With a career that spanned 55 years, Bill will be remembered fondly by all in the entertainment industry. His charm and charisma made him a favourite for presenting films, as his presence ensured a lively and spirited time.

"Our hearts are broken by the loss of our dear Bill -- he will never be forgotten," said Joan Collins, Bill's wife of 36 years. "How fortunate we were to have him in our lives. On behalf of Bill’s family and myself, I would like to thank the public for the great support given to Bill over the years."

Her statement continued: "Bill’s love of film was encouraged by you, his audience, and his love of sharing his passion, which increased over the five decades that he presented on every Australian television.

“Bill was always thrilled when he realised the joy and happiness he gave to his viewers. He never took them for granted, always wanting to please.

“Darling Bill you will be loved and missed always.”
