There's A Big Old Typo In Taylor Swift's Merch... But Did She Do It On Purpose?
Someone needs to tell Taylor Swift's marketing team about the spellcheck feature.
When Swift sang "spelling is FUN!" in her recent track 'ME!', we didn't think she meant it was also an opportunity to get creative.
But it looks like that could be how the people who design her merchandise have interpreted it, with one fan taking to Twitter to share her shock at discovering a glaring grammatical error on her Taylor Swift tee!
The Tay stan was aghast to discover that her prized top read:
"Your'e the only one of you. Baby that's the fun of you."
(FYI, if you're unsure, the apostrophe is in the wrong spot. It should read: YOU'RE)
About 0.2 seconds later, the internet blew up with other Swifties discovering that they, too, had fallen victim to the fashionable grammar faux pas.
"Taylor needs to see this. We ain’t paying good money to look like boo boo the fools," wrote one.
"I wish I didn't see this," posted another devastated fan.
However, not everyone who purchased the merch received what many online are now calling a 'collector's item'. Some Tay-lovers discovered that their own tees were error-free.
We can't tell if this is super awkward, or if Taylor could have been having a cheeky go at herself. After all, it wouldn't be the first time -- in her music video for 'Look What You Made Me Do', Swizzo shows off her own grave, inscribed Here lies Taylor Swift's reputation. And the entire song 'Blank Space' is pretty much the singer dragging herself for her dramatic love life.
OK, we're going to play devil's advocate for a second and put it out there:
Maybe she did this on purpose?
You know, for the LOL factor?
Or it is a big old Easter egg the singer's hidden for the true believers? “I love that [the fans] like the cryptic hint dropping," she told Entertainment Weekly in May. "It’s fun. It feels mischievous and playful.”
We hope so or that's going to cost her team a LOT in pre-paid return envelopes.
Meanwhile, the Twitter user who first discovered the error is ever-so-slightly freakin' out about the drama her post has sparked.
"Waking up and seeing so many news stories on my post... I just found the typo funny. I'm so sorry if this causes Taylor and (sic) ill feelings."
DW girl, if Taylor can move on from her feud with Katy Perry, she'll definitely forgive you.
