'Heartbroken And Devastated': Country Singer's Son Dies In 'Tragic Accident'

The singer revealed the heartbreaking news over Instagram.

US singer Granger Smith suffered every parent's worst nightmare after his youngest son, River, died in a "tragic accident".

Announcing the sad news over social media, the star revealed that following an undisclosed accident, the three-year-old was unable to be saved, despite medical treatment.

"I have to deliver unthinkable news. We’ve lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith," he wrote. "Following a tragic accident, and despite doctor’s best efforts, he was unable to be revived."

He added that he and wife Amber made the decision to donate the toddler's organs donate his organs "so that other children will be given a second chance at life".

"Riv was special," Smith continued. "Everyone that met him knew that immediately. The joy he brought to our lives cannot be expressed and his light will be forever in our hearts. If there are words to say more, I cannot find them in this moment. Love the ones close to you. There has never been a more difficult moment for us than this," he wrote.

Meanwhile, wife Amber also shared her devastation over the loss of her son, saying that "nothing can prepare a mother to deliver this kind of news".

Following the heartbreaking announcement, fans and fellow celebrities have flooded the star and his family with messages of support.

Smith and his wife are also parents to daughter London, 7, and son Lincoln Monarch, 5.
