'Game Of Thrones' Star Kit Harington Reportedly In Rehab For Stress And Alcohol
There are reports actor Kit Harington has checked into a luxury rehab centre for stress and alcohol use.
According to Page Six, dealing with the ending of popular series 'Game of Thrones' -- in which he starred as Jon Snow for eight years -- “really hit him hard,” leading the star to secretly check into rehab.
Harington has allegedly been residing at the $120,000 a month luxury Connecticut health retreat Privé-Swiss for nearly a month, arriving weeks prior to the show's series finale on May 19.
According to the publication, the 32-year-old has been undergoing mindful meditation and cognitive behavioural therapy to "deal with stress and negative emotions".
According to a source close to the star, Harington is struggling to deal with the end of the hugely popular series, with his passion for the show evident in his teary farewell to the cast and crew during the final season caught on the 'Game of Thrones' documentary 'The Last Watch'.
One resident who has seen the star on his trips out of the centre told Page Six, “Kit looks really good and appears to be very focused on his health and wellness. I have personally seen him out in the community many times. I think it’s wonderful that he is taking time to take care of himself – more people should.”
The actor has been seen getting emotional during behind-the-scenes footage of the show's final season -- notably when he first read the final scene in which Jon Snow stabs Dany through the heart to save the realm.
Harington also revealed to Esquire earlier this year that he felt like he was "being skinned" having to take off his Jon Snow costume for the last time.
“My final day of shooting, I felt fine … I felt fine … I felt fine … then I went to do my last shots and started hyperventilating a bit …Then they called ‘wrap’ and I just f*****g broke down. It was this onslaught of relief and grief about not being able to do this again.”
“But the weirdest bit was when we came off set and they started taking the costume off and it felt like being skinned … It felt like they were unceremoniously for the last time ripping off this character.”
