Kanye West Remembers Late Mother Donda West In Letterman Interview
Kanye West shared a sweet story about his late mother in a snippet for David Letterman's new show.
Kanye West has opened up about his late mother, Donda West, in the sneak peek of this upcoming appearance on David Letterman’s 'My Next Guest Needs No Introduction'.
Joined by wife Kim Kardashian West, who sat in the audience, Yeezy shared a sweet story about Donda, who died in 2007 from complications after cosmetic surgery and never got to meet her four grandchildren, North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.
“This would have been the funnest time of her life to have those kids running around that house and being able to, like, go and buy them toys,” he told Letterman. “I remember, my mother bought me a bear that was multicoloured, and I was very into Takashi Murakami at the time on that third album, 'Graduation'.”
He continued: “So, she bought it. She said it kind of, you know, feels like Takashi Murakami, and then I was sort of like, ‘I don’t want that! That ain’t no Takashi Murakami bear.’ And then she passed, you know, a few weeks after and I did, you know, everything I could to find that bear and place that bear on top of all the Takashi Murakami stuff I had in the house. But, you know, she’s here with us and she’s guiding us.”
Kim shared the video over Twitter, captioning the post, “Kanye opens up to David Letterman like you’ve never seen him on My Next Guest.”

She also previously shared an album of never-before-seen snaps of her extravagant 2014 wedding in Florence over social media, writing:
“A little behind the scenes from our wedding day five years ago,” she captioned the post, followed by another tweet which read, “Five years ago I married my best friend.”
Ye's interview with Letterman is set to drop on Netflix May 31st, along with 'My Next Guest Needs No Introduction' episodes featuring Ellen DeGeneres, Tiffany Haddish, and more.
