Mel B Rushed To Hospital After Going ‘Totally Blind’
Mel B was reportedly hospitalised after losing sight in her right eye on Friday.
The singer, who is unable to see out of her left eye due to botched laser surgery 20 years ago, was rushed to London’s Moorfields Eye Hospital, reportedly telling staff upon arrival, “I can’t see anything -- I am totally blind”.
Hospital insiders told The Sun that the 43-year-old arrived wearing an eyepatch and “was clearly in a lot of pain".
Another source told the publication, "Mel was in a really bad way. The other girls and their managers were really worried."
“Mel was frantic and screaming that she couldn’t see a thing. She went to the hospital in a chauffeur-driven car with an assistant, who was holding her hand," they continued, adding, “No one knew what brought it on but she had very swift, and very good, treatment."
“It is unclear if the loss of vision is linked to her previous problems, although it does seem likely."
She will apparently require medication and further treatment as well as more hospital visits to manage the issue.
Following her eyesight returning, Mel B reportedly left the hospital against doctor’s orders, to rejoin her fellow Spice Girls in rehearsing for the tour, with another source saying, “Mel was determined to get back in action and was very brave".
“The situation did cause concern, and it is something the girls and those around them will monitor closely when the concerts start.”
A Spice Girls spokeswoman confirmed: “The situation is under control and she has received treatment. She is back in rehearsals and is looking forward to the tour starting next week.”
The Spice World 2019 tour will see the Spice Girls -- minus original member Victoria Beckham -- touring the UK for a number of stadium shows kicking off in Manchester this June.
