Arnold Schwarzenegger Drop-Kicked While Taking Selfie In South Africa
Video footage captured the moment action star and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was kicked from behind during an event in South Africa.
Schwarzenegger was in town for the Arnold Classic Africa, part of the worldwide Arnold Sports Festival which features events in Melbourne, Brazil, Hong Kong, Spain and Johannesburg.
During a skipping event, the 71-year-old was taking photos and selfies with fans before a screaming man lept in the air and delivered a kick to Schwarzenegger's back.
The man bounced straight off the former Californian Governor and was immediately pounced on by security. Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger tweeted that he didn't even realise he had been kicked until he saw video of the attack later.
"I thought I was just jostled by the crowd," Schwarzenegger said.
"I'm just glad the idiot didn't interrupt my Snapchat."
Schwarzenegger also urged fans to not share videos of the attack which would give the man more fame than he deserved, and instead focus on the athletes at the event.
He later posted his own video, saying: "If you have to share the video (I get it), pick a blurry one without whatever he was yelling so he doesn't get the spotlight."
A statement from event organisers labelled the man a "crazed fan", saying he was handed over to police following the attack.
"Mr Schwarzenegger is fine and still in good spirits. He still carried on with the activities as planned and is fully taking this in his stride," it said.
Schwarzenegger will not be looking to press charges.
Meanwhile, fans joked with the actor about his resilience after getting kicked...
