Twitter's Flipping Its S**t Over Rob Pattinson Playing Batman

"Another day, another drama," said the legendary Miss Britney Spears in her 2007 single "Piece Of Me", long before Twitter drama ensured we had multiple dramas each and every day.

Today, it was announced that Robert Pattinson -- yes, the actor who played sparkly vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise -- has been cast as the new Batman.

Rob will be taking the reins from Ben Affleck -- aka Batfleck -- who confirmed that he was stepping down from the superhero role in January, after initially being signed on to co-write, direct and star in 'The Batman'. He first stepped down as director in 2017, being replaced by Matt Reeves, and has since distanced himself from the DC Extended Universe.

“I tried to direct a version of it and worked with a really good screenwriter, but just couldn’t come up with a version, I couldn’t crack it,” Affleck told Jimmy Kimmel. “So I thought it was time to let someone else take a shot at it. They got some really good people, so I’m excited.”

So that's how we got to Rob, and although it's been seven long years since the final instalment of the Twilight franchise was released -- during which he's starred in a whole heap of projects that are, you know, not Twilight, that's pretty much all people are talking about.

As Taylor Swift (and no one else!!!) once said: "Reputation precedes me".

But not everyone is put off by the Twilight alum stepping into the role:
