'Mod Squad' And 'Twin Peaks' Star Peggy Lipton Dies At Age 72
The actor known for her roles in 'The Mod Squad' and 'Twin Peaks' has died of cancer.
Lipton's daughters Kiada and Rashida Jones confirmed their mother's death to the Los Angeles Times saying, "She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side".
"We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her."
Lipton began her career as a model when she was just 15-years-old, later making appearances on TV shows like 'Bewitched' and 'The Alfred Hitchcock Hour'. Eventually, she went on to star as Julie Barnes, one of the lead characters in the iconic series 'The Mod Squad'.
From there Lipton was able to jump from television to music, seeing some success releasing covers. In 1974 Lipton married musician and producer Quincy Jones, who she had her two daughters with, though the couple ultimately divorced in 1990. During that time Lipton stepped away from the limelight to focus on family.

Following her break in acting, Lipton returned to the small screen to star in David Lynch's 'Twin Peaks' as Norma Jennings. Since then she has appeared in several shows including daughter Rashida's series 'Angie Tribeca' where she played her mother.
In 2004 she revealed she was diagnosed with colon cancer but was successfully treated for the disease.
Fans of the star shared their heartache at the news of her death on social media, with many sharing how she had influenced them growing up and her impact.
