'Buffy' Star Charged With Felony Domestic Violence
Nicholas Brendon is facing four years behind bars after being charged over an alleged domestic violence incident against his girlfriend.
The 46-year-old actor, who is best known for playing Xander Harris in 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' from 1997 to 2003, was arrested back in October after he allegedly violated a protective order against an unnamed woman at the Saguaro hotel in Palm Springs, California.
“He was with his girlfriend and they got into an argument,” Palm Springs Police Sgt. William Hutchinson told PEOPLE at the time. “During the argument at the bar, he pulled her arm and then violently pulled her by her hair.”
The official charges laid at the time were for "violating a protective order and felony inflicting injury on a spouse or cohabitant."
One year on from the incident, according to court filings lodged by the Riverside County District Attorney's Office, Brendon is now also facing one count of felony corporal injury to a spouse -- which is punishable by up to four years in state prison if convicted.
It's not the first time the star has landed in hot water with the law. In 2015, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanour charge after he was accused of choking his girlfriend in a hotel room -- one of four times he was arrested that year.
He has also entered rehab for substance abuse, depression and alcoholism.
Brendon will appear in court on November 28.
