Ashton Kutcher To Testify At Ex-Girlfriend’s Murder Trial

Michael Gargiulo has been accused of murdering Ashley Ellerin who was brutally slain in 2001. She was dating Ashton Kutcher at the time of her death.

According to new documents filed in Los Angeles on April 29, 2019, Ashton Kutcher has been listed to potentially testify at the trial of an accused murderer dubbed 'the Hollywood Ripper' Michael Gargiulo, who may be responsible for as many as 10 murders -- including the star's former girlfriend, Ashley Ellerin.

After it was revealed that the trial was finally going ahead after 18 years, it was reported that Kutcher would likely be called in to recount his version of events on the night Ellerin was murdered -- which also happened to be the night of the Grammys.

Kutcher was named as witness 123 out of 246 witnesses, with the trial set to begin on May 2. Also included on the list of witnesses is Ellerin’s family, police detectives, and officers.

You can read the story of Ellerin's brutal murder in its entirety here (warning: graphic) -- but in summary, during the night of her death on February 21, 2001, Kutcher came to Ellerin's house after watching the Grammy Awards as she hadn't picked up his calls.

Arriving at 10:45pm, the actor saw her BMW was in the driveway and assumed she was home. After knocking on the door several times to no answer, Kutcher then peered in the side window and "saw what he thought was red wine pooled on the floor," LAPD officer Detective Thomas Shevolek previously testified.

"He figured she was upset" because he was late, and "she brushed him off. So he left," Shevolek added.

Kutcher failed to realise at the time that Ellerin's body lay dead, slumped by the bathroom just metres away, with the 'red wine' he saw through her window being her blood.

Ellerin's body was discovered at approximately 9am the next morning by her roommate, and police revealed she had suffered 47 stab wounds, 12 of which were deemed fatal. Her neck organs had suffered extensive trauma, and her windpipe and right artery had been cut in two. Her friend had described her body as being "absolutely blue and covered in blood."

Dad-of-two Gargiulo was arrested in 2008 over Ellerin's death, as well as the deaths of Maria Bruno and Tricia Pacaccio, though it is thought he may have killed up to 10 women. He has been held at Los Angeles Country Jail, awaiting trial ever since.

While Kutcher has remained silent in the years since the traumatic ordeal, a friend of the actor told The Examiner that the star “had nightmares for years over the killing."

“It was a horrible ordeal. He grieved for years over her.”
