From 'Glee' to 'Under The Sea': Lea Michele To Play Ariel In 'The Little Mermaid' 30th Anniversary Show
We already know she's got a great voice, so who better to play the iconic role than former 'Glee' star Lea Michele?
Lea Michele is gearing up to dive under the sea for two live-action performances in May to take on the role of the iconic mermaid, Ariel.
The 32-year-old shared the exciting news through Instagram with a clip explaining the production and later posted a cute snap to Twitter looking the part as she donned a mermaid tail in a pool.
The show is called The Little Mermaid—An Immersive Live-to-Film Concert Experience and will coincide with the 30th anniversary of the film playing at the Hollywood Bowl on May 17 and 18.
The artists will perform songs from the Oscar and Grammy-winning score as the film plays on the Bowl’s movie screen, and to make the experience even more impressive, the iconic venue will be decked out with an aquatic theme to become the 'Hollywood Fish Bowl Dive-In Theatre' during the performances.
Joining Michele for the show will be Tony winner Harvey Fierstein as Ursula, Cheech Marin as Chef Louis, Ken Page as Sebastian, Peter Gallagher as King Triton, and Leo Gallo as Prince Eric.
Special guest for the evening will be composer Alan Menken and the and the performance is set to be backed by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
It's been a busy couple of weeks for Michele who recently found her own prince charming in the form of long term boyfriend Zandy Reich, who she married in an intimate ceremony in Napa, northern California, last month.
“We are so excited to be married and grateful to be surrounded by our friends and family,” the couple told PEOPLE at the time.
“And most of all, we’re so happy to spend the rest of our lives together.”
