Shows And Brands Cut Ties With Lori Loughlin And Her Influencer Daughter

Brands are swiftly ending sponsorship deals with the celebrities involved in the college admissions cheating scandal.

Up to 50 people were indicted in a university bribery scandal in the US -- including celebs Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives), William H. Macy (Shameless) and Lori Loughlin (Full House).

The high-profile actors are accused of committing fraud to secure spots at top colleges -- including Yale, Stanford, USC and Georgetown -- for their children.

Prosecutors said the parents involved in the scam worked with admissions consultant William Singer, who allegedly arranged bribes for test administrators and college coaches.

Loughlin -- who rose to fame as Aunt Becky on Full House -- was released on $US1 million bail today after being taken into FBI custody in Los Angeles on Wednesday, CBS reports.

Federal prosecutors allege that Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli paid $500,000 to ensure their daughters were recruited to the University of Southern California's rowing team -- despite neither of them being involved in the sport.

Influencer Olivia Jade Loses Sponsorship Deal

Loughlin's daughter, prominent YouTuber and influencer Olivia Jade Giannulli has now lost her partnership with beauty giant Sephora in the midst of the scandal backlash, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Olivia Jade -- who has 1.3 million Instagram followers -- has been accused of capitalising on her college experience at USC, uploading a number of sponsored posts for brands including Amazon Student.

Giannulli launched a makeup palette with Sephora in December 2018 -- but the brand is now distancing itself from the 19-year-old social media star.

“After a careful review of recent developments, we have made the decision to end the Sephora Collection partnership with Olivia Jade, effective immediately,” Sephora reps wrote in a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter. 

The palette appears to have been removed from Sephora's website -- but Twitter users took screenshots of the product reviews before it was taken down.

"The perfect palette for cheaters," wrote one angry commenter.

Olivia Jade openly discussed her disinterest in studying in a video posted to her YouTube channel in August 2018.

Olivia Jade has inked sponsorship deals with brands who have not yet commented on the scandal including Amazon, Dolce & Gabbana, Lulus, Marc Jacobs Beauty, Boohoo, and Unilever’s TRESemmé.

Hallmark Drops Lori Loughlin

Hallmark has now cut ties with Loughlin, who has appeared in a number of movies for the channel -- and was scheduled for future appearances in productions including Garage Sale Mysteries. 

“We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations," Hallmark's parent company wrote in a statement.

"We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions that air on the Crown Media Family Network channels involving Lori Loughlin including Garage Sale Mysteries, an independent third party production,” the Hallmark parent company said in a statement, per Variety.

Technology brand HP has also made it clear that they want nothing to do with the Loughlin/Giannulli family in the wake of the cheating allegations.

“HP worked with Lori Loughlin and Olivia Jade in 2017 for a one-time product campaign. HP has removed the content from its properties.”
