Natalie Bassingthwaighte And Casey Donovan Ready For All That Jazz In Chicago

Promising murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery, the fan-favourite musical kicks off with an all-new cast later this year.

Stopping by Studio 10, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Casey Donovan and Alinta Chidzey were thrilled to announce they're going to be taking up the roles of Roxie Hart, Matron 'Mama' Morton and Velma Kelly.

Promising a fresh take, Alinta also said the trio were excited to add their own twist to the iconic roles. "Every time it's reimagined and has our own personalities to bring to it... I think it's exciting," she said.

The show, to be produced by John Frost and Suzanne Jones, will kick off in Sydney from August 20, and follows Roxie, a housewife and jazz lover who murders her lover when he attempts to leave her.

"We cannot wait to see Natalie, Alinta and Casey make these iconic roles their own whilst supported by a slick ensemble cast," Jones said in a statement, "We are so privileged to have the most exceptional performers joining us on this production who are sure to bring the razzle dazzle!"

Set in the 1920s, Chicago sees Roxie enter the cutthroat world of women's prisons, and the even more cutthroat world of instant fame. But in order to avoid conviction and to see her name in lights, Roxie has to dupe the public -- and her rival Velma, by turning her crime of passion into a tabloid sensation.

"It's going to be super fun getting to share the stage with these incredible ladies," Nat said, "and we've got an amazing cast and crew... It's so electric, sexy, sassy, sophisticated... you name it!"

Our three leading ladies are no stranger to the stage or screen -- Nat you'll obviously remember from her iconic role in Neighbours, as well as gigs on So You Think You Can Dance and The X Factor. On top of that, she also starred in stage productions of Grease and Footloose.

Casey won Australian Idol in 2004 when she was still a teenager, then went on to win I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!  in 2017, and in that time she's also starred onstage in the likes of The Sapphires, Rent and We Will Rock You.

And Alinta has appeared in NeighboursWentworth and also onstage in West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar and Singin' In The Rain.

We can't wait to see these iconic ladies dominate that stage!
