Shannen Doherty Breaks Her Silence On Luke Perry's Death
Following the news that Luke Perry died at age 52 following a massive stroke, peers and those that were lucky enough to star alongside the actor shared their grief.
Perry, who most recently starred in The CW's series Riverdale as Fred Andrews was also well-known for his time on Beverly Hills, 90210 as teen heartthrob Dylan McKay. Co-stars from both shows shared their condolences.
Shannen Doherty, who starred alongside Perry as his on-again-off-again-on-again(-off-again) girlfriend Brenda Walsh.
Doherty took her time posting anything to social media, but on Wednesday wrote on Instagram that she was "struggling" with the loss.
"Yesterday morning I got a phone call that devastated me," Doherty wrote, "I’m struggling with this loss and am having a hard time with my thoughts. But, my heart goes out to his family and friends who were blessed by his light in their (and mine) lives."
"Processing this is impossible right now."
Doherty also spoke exclusively to People, telling them how shocked and heartbroken she was following the news.
"I have so many memories with Luke that make me smile and that are forever imprinted on my heart and mind," the 47-year-old said.
"I will never forget -- and will miss -- Luke looking at me with that smile of his saying … Shan."
Another of Perry's co-stars, Riverdale's Lili Reinhart also posted on social media a heartfelt poem about Perry's death writing:
"...it's too hard to give anything right now.
Except for him.
The one we've lost."
Perry was transported to a hospital in Los Angeles last week after suffering a massive stroke. Days later he died surrounded by his family and friends.
