Lena Dunham Doesn't Talk To Lorde Anymore Following Jack Antonoff Split
In a startlingly raw feature with 'The Cut', the polarising 'GIRLS' creator opened up about the breakdown of her famous friendship.
In the piece, the author has unparalleled access to Dunham, who discusses everything from her health struggles to the ongoing public perception that she can do no right.
It's when she talks about her break-up with musician and producer Jack Antonoff.
"Our relationship probably lasted longer than it should have," Dunham revealed, "He’s a very loyal person, so he was not going to bail when the going got tough. He literally held my hand while I got an enema on New Year’s Eve while his family celebrated."
Dunham believed that her ongoing health issues stemming from endometriosis had an effect on their relationship, almost distracting them from the fact that they may not have been on the same page.
"[W]hen you’re sick, so much energy goes into making sure the other person is well that you’re not even noticing maybe our schedules aren’t compatible," she said. "Maybe we want different things out of our lives. Maybe we have different attitudes about what family means. Maybe these essential questions that people have to ask themselves all the time are not being asked, because we just want to make sure that I don’t pass out at the grocery store."
Despite Antonoff and Dunham splitting amicably after six years -- she refers to how close they still are throughout the interview -- the GIRLS star also said she hasn't spoken to her friend Lorde since the split.
Despite both Lorde and Antonoff denying anything happened, there were rumours of infidelity -- there was even a powerpoint presentation put together to prove that Antonoff and Lorde were together.
Dunham actually referenced the Powerpoint and the speculation, saying the rumours were embarrassing. "I don’t think anything happened between them. I can never know someone else’s life," Dunham said.
"I have never spoken to Ella [Lorde] about it. We haven’t talked since Jack and I broke up. It was awful, and I couldn’t do anything about it except trust that what he was saying to me was true."
Now Antonoff is romantically linked with model Carlotta Kohl -- which Dunham also discussed.
"I thought I was kind of proving weird girls can have love too," she said, "and now he’s dating somebody who looks regular and normal and like girls are supposed to look."
