Emma Stone Admits She Named Herself After Baby Spice
Emma Stone has revealed the inspiration behind her stage name -- admitting she's been a massive Spice Girls fan since the '90s.
The Battle Of The Sexes star was born Emily Jean Stone -- but because there was already another actress with that name on the SAG-AFTRA books, she had to come up with a new moniker.
Chatting to Jimmy Fallon last night, Stone said Emma Bunton -- aka Baby Spice -- had a huge influence on her as a kid.
"Growing up, I was super blonde, and my real name is Emily, but I wanted to be called Emma because of Baby Spice and guess what, now I am,” Stone told Fallon.
"So, that’s pretty messed up," she joked.
"It wasn’t necessarily because of [Baby Spice], but yes, in second grade, did I go up to the teacher and ask her to call me Emma? Yes, I did."
"And was it because of Emma Lee Bunton from the Spice Girls? Yes, it was," she admitted.
Stone said she saw The Spice Girls live in the '90s, again in 2008 and has plans to get tickets to next year's reunion show.
"They've recently announced a new tour and I will be going to that...somehow," she said.
"I don't think tickets are on sale but I'm going to figure it out!" she added.
We're not sure if someone has let Stone know that tickets to the Spice Girls tour sold out in minutes yesterday but she'll surely be able to find a way to see her favourite artists on stage again.
Stone might be in the running for the biggest celebrity fan of the Spice Girls -- although Adele is giving her a run for her money.
The Hello singer posted an extremely adorable picture of herself as a child, surrounded by Spice posters, writing: "I AM READY" after the reunion tour was announced.
