Alec Baldwin Speaks Out After Being Arrested For Assault

Alec Baldwin has spoken out on Twitter after he was arrested and charged for assault and harassment in New York City yesterday.

It was reported that Baldwin assaulted a 49-year-old man during a dispute over a parking spot -- but the actor has written on Twitter that the stories are "false" and dismissed them as "clickbait".

"Normally, I would not comment on something as egregiously misstated as today's story," Baldwin wrote via the Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation account.

"However, the assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot is false. I wanted to go on the record stating as much," he continued.

"I realize that it has become a sport to tag people w as many negative charges and defaming allegations as possible for the purposes of clickbait entertainment.

"Fortunately, no matter how reverberating the echos, it doesn’t make the statements true," he concluded.

It is unclear whether Baldwin is denying the assault itself -- or that the assault was due to a parking dispute.

Wojciech Cieszkowski has been named by Page Six as the man accusing Baldwin of assault.

Cieszkowski commented that he is "sore, but I'll be fine".

Baldwin is set to appear in court over the charges at a later date, according to the New York Police Department.
