Ryan Adams Doesn't Remember Marrying Ex-Wife Mandy Moore
Singer Ryan Adams has thrown some major shade at ex-wife Mandy Moore, saying he doesn’t remember marrying the This Is Us star in 2009 because he was high on painkillers.
In the November issue of Glamour Magazine, the singer-turned-actress spoke about her failed seven-year-marriage, saying:
“I couldn’t control what happened to my immediate family, but I could control starting my own,” Moore said. “Not the smartest decision. I didn’t choose the right person.”
Moore also said she felt “spiritually and fundamentally stuck leading up to the divorce” and that her “career and friendships suffered for it.”
“I don’t feel guilty for it. I don’t fault myself for it,” she added.
"When people said, ‘I’m sorry,’ I was like, ‘No. Sorry would have been had I stayed in a very unhealthy situation.’ I didn’t. I found my way out. And when I did, things opened back up again.”
Adams, clearly not impressed with Moore's comments, soon went on a Twitter rampage, taking several thinly-veiled jabs at his former flame, and insisting he "didn't remember" the nuptials.
"She didn’t like the Melvins or BladeRunner,” he wrote on Twitter, referencing Moore’s comment that she “didn’t choose the right person” when deciding to tying the knot.
“Doomed from the start…” he continued. “If only I could remember the start lol."
In another tweet that has also since been deleted, he added:
“When someone told me we got married I thought they were joking,” he said. “Then I realized how many painkillers I was taking. Honestly, there weren’t enough to numb the shock. Gollygooops”
To top it off, Adams then compared being married to the 34-year-old as being “stuck to the spiritual equivalent of a soggy piece of cardboard.”
“But it rains on net-a-porter everyday when you’re trapped inside yourself,” he continued. “Take the money I’ll take my pride, any day.”
On Friday, the singer apologised for his tweets, saying:
“I apologise for my remarks,” he said. “I was trying to be funny. But I have and will always choose to remember the amazing moments. It isn’t classy or OK to lessen what was. I am happy for everyone and doing my best.”
The pair were married in March 2009 and finalised their divorce on June 2016.
