Cardi B Turns Self In, Charged With Assault Following Strip Club Brawl
Rapper Cardi B has been charged after agreeing to meet investigators over her connections to a violent brawl in a Queens strip club.
It's alleged that Cardi, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, threw items at two women who worked at the club, including a hookah pipe and drinking glasses, while others with her threw bottles and chairs.
According to the New York Post, two bartenders claim they were attacked due to allegations that they had sex with Cardi's husband Offset while she was pregnant.
The bartenders, aged 21 and 23, are now reportedly suing the Invasion of Privacy rapper for damages.
Police said the rapper was charged with two misdemeanour counts of assault and one of reckless endangerment.
Cardi's lawyer told the press, "We're aware of no evidence that she caused anybody any harm on that night... We expect that the matter is going to be resolved expeditiously."
The lawyer representing the two bartenders meanwhile alleged Cardi "bragged to multiple people and on social media that she orchestrated these vicious attacks".
"Justice does not care whether her name is Cardi B or Carly B, and she will now answer for her crimes," the attorney said in a statement to CNN.
This is the second brawl Cardi has been linked to in recent times, after she clashed with fellow rapper Nicki Minaj at a New York Fashion Week event.
It left the "Bodak Yellow" rapper with a massive lump on her forehead.
A court date has reportedly been scheduled for late-October.
