Carrie Underwood Revealed She Suffered Three Miscarriages In The Last Two Years
"It was just kind of like 'Okay, what's the deal? What is all of this?"
In a recent interview with CBS's Sunday Morning country music superstar, Carrie Underwood revealed she suffered a series of miscarriages over the past two years.
"I kind of planned that 2017 was going to be the year that I work on new music, and I have a baby," Underwood said adding, "We got pregnant early 2017, and didn't work out. It happens."
Underwood said, initially, her struggles reaffirmed her faith, "In the beginning, it was like, 'Okay God, we know this just wasn't your timing and that is all right, we will bounce back and figure our way through it.' And got pregnant again in the spring, and it didn't work out" the 35-year-old said.
Underwood then told Sunday Morning she became pregnant for the third time in early 2018 which "didn't work out".
"So at that point, it was just kind of like, 'Okay, like, what's the deal? What is all of this?"
Underwood and her husband Mike Fisher are already parents to their three-year-old son Isaiah, so the singer said she felt conflicted that the couple had already been "so blessed" with their son, she was "afraid to be angry".
"I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can’t,” she continued. “I have an incredible husband, incredible friends, an incredible job, an incredible kid. Can I be mad? No."
However, when Underwood fell pregnant for the fourth time and thought she could be suffering from the fourth miscarriage, she wasn't afraid anymore.
According to Underwood, one night while cuddling her son and sobbing, she finally got mad, thinking to herself, "Why on Earth do I keep getting pregnant if I can’t have a kid? Like, what is this? Shut the door. Like, do something. Either shut the door or let me have a kid."
"And for the first time, I feel like I actually I told God how I felt," she said adding, "That was like a Saturday -- and the Monday I went to the doctor to confirm another miscarriage. And they told me everything was great!"
Underwood announced her pregnancy in August while plugging her upcoming tour for her album Cry Pretty.
Sitting in front of balloons that spelled out "BABY", Underwood revealed her tour would kick off next year after she and her husband added, "another little fish to [their] pond".
Last week it was revealed Underwood would be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week, making her the 2,646th star. The singer rose to fame during her time on American Idol where she took out the top prize in 2005. Simon Cowell will be one of Underwood's guest speakers at the ceremony on September 20.
