Winona Ryder Thinks She May Have Actually Married Keanu Reeves In 1992
To the happy couple!
Talk about a destination wedding... which is coincidentally the name of the upcoming romcom starring Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves as well as how you could describe the potentially real wedding they had in 1992.
Yep, while promoting the film, Ryder told EW that during the shooting of Bram Stoker's Dracula, she wasn't entirely sure if the wedding was real or not.
"In that scene," Ryder said, "Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married."
Reeves wasn't entirely convinced until Ryder reminded him that not only did they say their "I do's" but the whole thing was shot on Valentine's Day (very romantic!!).
"Oh my gosh," Reeves reflected, "We're married."
Despite it being a cute story, we are INVESTIGATIVE REPORTERS and we did an entire Google search to find out just how binding the ceremony would have been.
Unfortunately, Romania is famous for its bureaucracy and marriage law is based on the civil law system -- according to RoamingRomania.com -- that means religious marriages aren't legally binding under the eyes of the Romanian government.
Still, in the eyes of our one true God (Winona Ryder), it's legit.
The pair can be seen crashing more weddings in their upcoming flick Destination Wedding which currently doesn't appear to have an Aussie release date DESPITE starring one of Hollywood's most enduring married couples.
